| Ready to Sail Spring 2011 Handover is available at anytime and vessel can be sailed away upon purchase. Owner's Story Owning Thunder Child for the past 35 years has been a rich experience. In my younger years, I single handed her on the east coast of Vancouver Island, up to the Broughtons (with my dog as crew) and through the Gulf Islands. She has proven her stability and seaworthiness over and over again and in all conditions, including occasional forays to the West Coast of Vancouver Island. One of the last of this era of boats, she continues to show our guests the simplicity and subtlety of sailing as it used to be - without winches and with minimal electronics and equipment. The cabin has proven roomy and comfortable with plenty of storage for extended cruising or passages. And the little wood heater has been my wife's joy, giving off that warm and cosy dry heat. Like any traditional wooden boat, she requires due attention, upkeep and care. Over the years, I have enjoyed tinkering, improving and adapting her to different times in my life. We have had a great journey together but now, as my life changes, it is time to send her forward to a new owner. One that appreciates the craftsmanship of an Atkin design, one that loves the beauty of wood and one that wants to learn or already loves to sail in classic tradition. |
| Comox Valley Moorage can be continued, if desired. (There are long waiting lists at 3 local marinas.) |
